 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lot at the downs brook trailhead can fit 20-30 cars. Was maybe 80% full when arriving and leaving. Do keep in mind that many of these parties might be hiking to Mt. Potash. |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Minor brook crossings, but nothing challenging. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Did not see any glaring problems. Looked like there was a lot of blowdown removal work on the east leg. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Only one today. There's plenty of water on the east leg heading to the East Ledges, though that's pretty much it (keep this in mind). |
|
 | Bugs: |
Breeze was not enough to stop the black flies. They were particularly awful when sitting down on the east ledge. |

 | Comments: |
Clockwise loop around Mt. Hedgehog, which I think I prefer if only because the descent is simple. It can be rather rough in spots but very rewarding. Trail was not totally dried up from yesterday's rain, but it was manageable and the worst wet areas could be dodged. Some of the rock slabs were also wet in the woods, but didn't think they were an issue. Should be all dry by tomorrow, though prepare for the bugs. |
