Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Mittersill Trail is abandoned there is a no hiking on ski trails sign so stayed on the service road/trail. A few trees down before reaching the top of the lift and then between there and the summit. Plenty of missing bog bridges between the Cannonballs and some deep mud pits. JR was out clearing waterbars between the Kinsmans, thank you. Lots of waterbar repair in progress on Mt. Kinsman Trail. The tiny sign that reads Flume to Kinsman Flume is still ridiculous and helped someone looking for it. Trails were clear and signs are at all the intersections.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw only a couple dogs today.
Bugs
Bugs: Black flies were bad between lift and just before summit of Mittersill. Otherwise I didn't notice any more the rest of the day.

Comments
Comments: Good day for a long walk in the woods and mountains. Hike up Mittersill Peak was nice but the service road has a lot of washouts, There are nice ledges just south of the summit of Mittersill Peak reached by an well used herd path to the west. Cannon lookout tower was crazy busy, tram is running. Continued south on the Kinsman Ridge Trail. I passed by a redliner and he said this trail should be given back to the Indians. Yah it is a jumble of a mess of of wet rocks and ledge, always happy to reach the bottom. I bushwhacked to the top of the Middle Cannonball because it was there and I found a new can of bear spray along the way, highpoint is near the south end of the highest contour (it isn't recognized). When I popped out of the woods I met a couple of hikers that I knew from trial work. I enjoyed every outlook along the way. I decided to visit Kinsman Pond. I ate my lunch sitting on top of the North Kinsman highpoint, a couple of people walked by me and didn't notice me. Between the summit JR was clearing waterbars and I enjoyed catching up with him. I walked over South summit to the ledges to enjoy more big views. I then turned around and headed back and took the Mt. Kinsman Trail off the ridge. Passed a lot of people along the way down the tricky wet steeps. I gave directions to the Kinsman Flume. Waterbar reconstruction is underway on Mt. Kinsman Trail, thank you trail maintainers! The trail provides a gal caught up with me and I hiked out with her and she gave me a ride home so I didn't have to do a mile roadwalk! Fun day.
