 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked in the upper lot of the East side HOL viewing on the Kanc. No one there when I started, no one there when I returned. The Boys and their Harleys were mobbing the lower lot. Vroom! Bang! Bang! Bang! |

 | Comments: |
I bring greetings from the summit of Kanc to The Teal Goat and crew.
Also Ken Mainieri. When Ken got to the summit years ago the can was open and the register gone. So he signed in on a single scrap of paper stating Kanc is a miserable 'whack. Since then Ken's note has become the bookmark in the register.
Kanc is not a miserable 'whack if you are lucky. Crappy woods getting from the curve to the ridge. Crappy but there is a lot worse. Once on the ridge stay to the West side of the ridge. Decent walking. As experienced 'whackers know finding your way up is easy. Down takes luck and skill. I got onto the East side of the ridge coming down from the summit to the col between the summit and the PUD. Bad spruce, bad old blowdowns. It took some time to extricate myself from that mess. Luck ran out, skills are rusty. |
