Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Fording of the Swift River to begin the evening was easy and straight forward. Water was a little over knee high. Other crossings were easy rock hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns on Brunel but overall this and other trails were in great shape and easy to follow
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: would be fine for most hiking dogs no tough scrambles, just prolonged steep grades and rough footing coming down Tremont.
Bugs
Bugs: Mostly spider webs and moths but a few mosquitos. Enormous, kamkikaze moths became a real nuisance up high. They loved our headlamps. Never needed head nets, though

Comments
Comments: Strawberry supermoon shenanigans began at 10pm. Mellow late-night woods walk for 2.5 miles, then the fun began. The climb to Owl’s Cliff was not nearly as bad as expected. Trail was in great shape and the footing is generally good. A few short stretches of loose gravel. Owl’s Cliff Spur was very underwhelming at night. The climb up to Tremont was long and steep and we were glad to reach the summit. From there we had a clear view of the moon and Sawyer Pond, along with great slightly illuminated views ranging from Chocorua to Carragain. Green’s Cliff really stood out beyond the pond. The switchback section of Tremont is very much not fun at all. Steep, super eroded, root hopping for quite some time. “I really love the top of the Mt Tremont trail”, said no one ever. The river section would have been very pleasant could we see our surroundings, as the river was very large with huge boulders and blowdowns. We were very happy to reach the car at 2:00am.I was able to make it back to my bed by at exactly 4:20 for a few winks of sleep and am currently suffering from the self-inflicted wounds of sleep deprivation while parenting two small children. totally worth it. Theme of the night was tabs as I closed another one in the quest for redline mediocrity. Closing in on 90% completion with 15 hikes to go.
