 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking on North side of 302, across from trailhead, room for 6-8 cars if people park wisely. Just my car and my friend's at 9am, two more at 2:30pm. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
All easily rock hopped |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail in good condition, a couple of muddy spots 0.1 to 0.4 mi from trailhead, remainder of trail dry, but for a few stream crossings. It looks like a couple of blowdowns were recently cut/cleared, thank you! |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Sure, but three eroded stretches right below the summit would cause some pups problems, may need human lift assist. No water past the couple of water crossings down low, so plan for that. None seen today though. |
 | Bugs: |
Uh, yes. They drew blood too, mix of blackflies and mosquitos, along much of trail. My bad for not immediately putting on bug spray. A steady breeze on the top kept them away though up there. |
 | Lost and Found: |
Nope, not today. |

 | Comments: |
A rugged little mountain, lots of switchbacks in the last steepish mile. The three eroded spots just below the summit were navigable, but be wary of the trees you might want to hug...many were loose, so check them before you grab onto them.
Beautiful views of the Sandwich Range, Osceolas, Chocorua, Carrigain, Vose Spur, and down to Sawyer Pond below, and more. Pretty stream and waterfalls on the way in, too.
Saw one group of four nice ladies from Maine and NH, but no one else while we were out. Thanks to the breeze keeping the bugs at bay it was a perfect day to linger up top. |
