Today was a day of getting new trails and this is probably some of my favorite ways to get up sandwich dome. I had already been on Ginny pond once before but it definitely is worse than about two years ago from the beavers. Once we started going up to Black Mountain Pond it was pretty beautiful there is a tree down on the Mary Carrie Falls sign. The falls weren’t that exciting but we still went out there and saw a lot of lady slippers. When we got to the pond it was quite nice but the cloud level was still very low. Once heading off the ledges I was thankful for someone telling me that I should go up this way instead of down since it just started to rain on us . The last time I was in the area it had been cloudy and wet then as well so once we got up towards a little more up towards the ledges we were graced with some beautiful views that were opening up. We then continued onto the Algonquin Trail which right before that junction I realized I lost my brown braided earring when I took my long sleeve shirt off I did try to go back to find it but I could not. Someone has cleared out a view pretty crappy on the top of sandwich dome which had not been there a year or two ago. Then coming down Bennett Street I expected it to be a little gnarly which it was actually quite awesome and probably one of my favorite trails for footing in a while. There was some good swimming spots on speaker down towards the river and then it was just a crazy day out and got packed in time to me my baseball practice. Good day and good company. |
