Started up the logging road which still has some slash in spots. At the first junction, took a right as it appeared to be heading more towards our destination. Continued to head up steeply toward the ridge. The logging roads were now getting a lot grassier but still negotiable. Close to the ridge, we turned left onto another overgrown logging road which headed directly toward the summit, at a very moderate grade. Once this road fizzled out, we were slightly northwest of the summit so took another reading. We now headed more steeply up through tall grass popping out on what appeared to be a trail! We followed this until it brought us near the summit where we took one last heading and made our way through ferns, passing several bumps and found the jar. Heading back down we found and followed that trail until it disappeared then headed steeply down towards the road, like Beth Z. We came upon an overgrown logging road with a moose highway heading towards the car so we decided to take it. It ended up reconnecting with our first logging road; it was the left fork and actually might prove to be a more direct way to the peak! |
