Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Cross Rivendell Trail is in excellent condition. The Mt. Cube Trail needs a lot of maintenance. This includes general brushing, refreshing of white blazes (none appear to exist for a long stretch in the trail section farthest from Rt. 25A), and major repair of a wood ladder which has exposed rebar. There were also a half a dozen blowdowns, all were easy step overs except for one that now has an off trail bypass. There are several areas with considerable mud that could use some flat stones. Signage is generally good.

Comments
Comments: We did a traverse going up the Cross Rivendell Trail and descending the Mt. Cube Trail (AT). This route got us up to the South Cube summit rather quickly and made the longer descent on the Mt. Cube trail easier on our knees. The Cross Rivendell Trail is nicely designed beginning with a warmup stretch followed by switchbacks as the grade gets steeper. Short-legged people may find some of the step ups challenging on ledges near the summit. The side trail to North Cube is a little more challenging to follow with worn blazes. Cairns are very helpful. Views were great from both summits.
