Headed towards the peak through an opening in the woods, first making our way through tall grass then into the woods which were chock full of ferns and hobblebush. Kept hoping for Fran’s herd paths but 5 years of growth has obliterated whatever he found! Lots of evidence of moose but no moose highways! Climbed up and around several cliff bands before reaching the blowdown covered summit. Hit numerous bumps before finally spying the canister. Signed in and headed down what appeared to be an overgrown woods road. This fizzled out so we just kept checking our heading, sometimes through thick ferns and hobblebush covered routes, sometimes overgrown wooded areas. Managed to miss the cliff bands on the descent but did encounter some muddy areas (one knee deep) so tried to keep on higher ground than the roads. Did find one moose path maybe .1 miles from the car: Yay! |
