Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings on Huntington Ravine were very doable. The first bigger crossing took a moment of thought before rock hopping, but the rest were straightforward. Some slick rocks on the flat section of Hunts before the Fan where the river runs right through the trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: On Hunts, where the trail cuts across the Fan and then skirts around the right side of the fan through the brush, the bushes/plants are quite overgrown. Felt a bit like bushwhacking. I believe I read a post from the trail adopter on another forum, acknowledging this. Nothing terrible, but if you wear pants you'll avoid getting scratched up by twigs.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one dog actively hiking today up Boott Spur. The rest of the pups were seen at the summit and I can't say how they got there.
Bugs
Bugs: Some black flies but they were not bothersome.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: We packed out a broken hiking pole that had been lodged into a cairn up high on the Tuckerman Ravine trail. Broken way beyond repair.

Comments
Comments: Ro speaking: This was our first time up Huntington Ravine! Once we departed Tuckerman Ravine Trail, we saw only a few groups before reaching the Fan. That's where the party started. It was nice to have so many people around to help work through the tricky scrambles. I won't lie, this hike took blood, sweat, and tears from me. I appreciate everyone's patience as I slowly made my way up Hunts. We took Nelson Crag over to Washington, and ate some soup, pizza, and mac&cheese. Then descended Tucks, across the Lawn Cutoff, and over to Boott Spur via Davis Path. The views from the Lawn and Boott Spur were amazing. I didn't get to fully take in the views on Hunts since I was a bit preoccupied with safely making my way to the top, so I figured coming down Boott Spur would make up for my earlier missed opportunity. For the record, Remi had no issue on Hunts, while I spent more time second-guessing my footholds and puzzling over my plan. In any case, we had a great BIG day. Our elapsed time was just over 10 hours, with very slow going onHunts, over an hour spent on the summit, and several big sit & snack events on our way down Boott Spur (per my request).
