Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hank Williams did well. Not all dogs would. He hikes a lot. Caps Ridge has really sharp rock out above treeline so paws need to be tough. Hank also takes direction well. He waits for me to descend and follows when i say ok. I can also point out a route for him to take. He does have a handle on his backpack and i used it to twice to support him going up. This trail is NOT for beginner pups. I saw 3 other dogs that came up after us and all seemed fine. There was a girl who decided to carry her 7 month old pup because she thought he was too impulsive. Good for her for keeping him safe.

Comments
Comments: We loved Caps Ridge and will do it again as long as it is dry. Lots of people of all abilities and everyone happily converging on Jefferson. We wrapped around on the Cornice (sharp rubble) on the way back and wouldn’t bother with that one again. Should have went over to Adams. Next time.
