 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at the Baldface Parking lot on Rt. 113 and walked to the Mt. Meader traihead. Cars parked along the road with several buses on my return. I think that they were all at Emerald Pool. The last time I did Meader was about 15+ years ago and I remember a small grass lot off the highway for parking. That has all grown over and there's only room for 1 or 2 cars at the entrance to the trail. One car was there when I started. There used to be a large sign for the trail which could be seen from the highway. Now it's just a piece of paper, doubled over and weather beaten. One has to get out of their vehicle to read it to see if it's the trail. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Only major crossing was on the Baldface Circle Trail, and it was easy. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
All trails had some blowdowns. Meader Ridge had several large walk arounds and a duck under. Bald Face Circle Trail (north side loop) had about 8 king sized blowdowns to get over or around. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Good workout for doggie with plenty of water available (caution on top part of Baldface Circle Trail, see in comments below). |

 | Bugs: |
A few early this morning, but not bad. |

Nice workout doing the loop. Mt. Meader Trail is really nice with a soft footbed. The only steeps are in the last mile, but there are plenty of switchbacks. Nice views from the top of the ledges. Meader Ridge Trail was up and down, but went through some nice woods and had some great views. The top 1/10th mile of Baldface Circle trail was really steep with ledges and poor footing and not much to hold on to. It would be nice if the AMC would take some of their pocket change from their multi-million dollar coffers and put in some steps or a ladder or two. It's really needed here. I didn't see a soul all day until I got down near Emerald Pool. Beautiful day on the ridge with nice cool breezes. |
