Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: From 110 in Stark I onto Paris Rd and drove it until a road diverged left toward the peak. You have to cross a brook on a bridge here though and the bridge may scare you. Doesn’t look to be in great condition but I safely got over it. On my return, I thought I’d follow the other road on the other side of the stream back out to 110 but it eventually ends/becomes too overgrown and is not drivable. Paris Rd is in good shape. Mid-clearance preferable as there’s some decent sized rocks jutting out and some sharp divots in the road but a low-clearance vehicle could probably do it with caution. The road I took up toward the peak has a very grassy center line. That said, mid-clearance can go up it at least part ways but it does eventually become pretty rough and without a lot of momentum 2WD will struggle. This one was a little sketchy for my car. I parked not too far from the end of the road (maybe 0.2mi).

Comments
Comments: Day 251, Peak 245. Just one short peak for the day. Sunny day but not too hot.

I walked up the road a couple hundred feet to where there was a clearing on my left. I walked through the clearing and entered the woods on the far side of it on a SW bearing. Grades were moderate for a ways in mostly open hardwoods. I crossed a skidder road but it wasn’t on my bearing. The steep east-side of the mountain was, well, very steep, but I didn’t get cliffed out. Slow going and lots of pulling myself up by trees though. The woods also transitioned to mostly softwoods on the steeps. A bit scrappy but not too thick. I kept a good line to the peak and popped out onto the summit ridge just a little NW of the register.

I signed in and took a direct bearing down which took me a little further east of my ascent line. Similar to my ascent though I passed right by a huge boulder/cliff on my right. I was heading a bit too far east and had to headed directly north at the end to hit the clearing. Quick road walk back to my car. About 1.25mi with 700ft of gain, taking me 1.25hrs. 114 more days and 120 more peaks to go…
