Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All (2, on north end of Baldface Circle) very low and rock-hoppable
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Large parts of the loop need brushing (the stem of the lollipop is fine), especially at higher elevations and during the scrambles up to South Baldface. There are 7-8 significant blowdowns on the north side of the loop, around the area of the 2 water crossings. One of them is right across a water crossing and obscures the trail enough to make it a bit difficult to spot. None of them are very easy stepovers. Most of them have at least been limbed and there were no herdpath bypasses yet. Lastly, the trail is a bit tough to follow along the scrambles up to South, more cairns would be nice but there's really nothing to build them with.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Baldface Circle Trail between the shelter and the Slippery Brook Jct on the south end of the loop is not appropriate for most dogs (although we saw one riding in a backpack and another wearing a pack with a handle). A good way to bypass the hardest scrambles is to take Slippery Brook up. The north side (descending North Baldface) was not nearly as difficult but would still be tough for inexperienced dogs. Lots of tall scrambles.
Bugs
Bugs: No significant bugs

Comments
Comments: The scrambles up to South Baldface are hardest between the shelter and Slippery Brook Jct. It's a lot like Monadnock but harder... large slabs that are best when dry and some challenging scrambling. However, there is no exposure to dropoffs, just potential for some long scraping slides.
