What a gorgeous day above and below the alpine zone. Had Jefferson summit to myself for about 5 minutes and barely a breath of wind during that stretch either. What a great day to be out. Castle Trail is in great shape, despite several blowdowns. Highly recommend the Emerald Bluff viewpoint as it offers a tremendous view of the Castellated Ridge, ravine and valley below. Emerald Trail is quite steep, but easy on the feet as it is not rocky at all, a most welcome change by that point! Castle Ravine Trail is beautiful. Low water definitely made the crossings easier.
A little mud in just a few spots and one, very short and easily navigated spot on Castle Ravine Tr, where the trail is running water over rocks. |
