Comments
Comments: Walked along grassy Columbia Brook Road which was in nice shape, grass was thin and only half calf high. There are still remnants of tire tracks which help form a trail along the road bed. At about 1.5 miles we headed into the woods, figuring that this heading would avoid the steeper contours should we wait until we were further up the road. Woods were amazingly open for the North Country. Still encountered some hobblebush and ferns but not as thick as usual! The grade was mostly moderate with some steep sections all the way to the summit bump of which there is only one! Easy to find the jar that way although as it was glass, it eluded us for a second or two.... Signed in, added some orange tape and headed down. Took a more direct, shorter route to the road which proved to be a bad idea: it was steep, as expected but filled with boulders and holes and lots and lots of leaves which required some caution! Once back on the road we headed straight for the car.
