Very enjoyable day in the Whites with sunny skies and 360 views from Eisenhower. The ridge between the two peaks is quite enjoyable.
Met a 20-something girl who had twisted her ankle on the ridge between Eisenhower and Pierce. She was hiking with 2 companions (Dad and Sister?). She was in pain and crying - however was able to stand on injured ankle. I gave my hiking poles to her. Offered to carry her backpack but her companion said they got that. Also offered my cell phone and number in case, but the dad said he is ok and has a cell phone himself. They had plans to stay at Mitzpah Spring Hut on Sat (Jul 16) night. I mentioned that hut crew might be able to help out with ice etc or pain relievers. They looked like they were going to try to slowly go towards the hut after. Hope they made it back to trailhead ok. |
