Trails
Trails: Herd path
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, July 23, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked on Haystack road near FR 304A, since there was a couple camping in the entrance to FR 304A. It seems that there is room for 2 cars..
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: none
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: It's a herd path with tons of blowdowns. 2 major ones near the summit have bypasses that are pretty easy to follow, but it may take some body contortions to get around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Easy trail for dogs BUT, three is no water so make sure you have a sufficient amount to quench a thirsty pup. Only issue may be getting around the second blow down (coming down from the summit); this may be a little tricky for pups to get around due to the narrowness of the trail, but still passable.
Bugs
Bugs: Not bad
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: N/A

Comments
Comments: Not much to add to the previous reports; trail was dry on this day. Trail is pretty easy to follow (maybe a little tricky at the blowdowns); there are side several trails that are blocked by bunches of branches to guide hikers up the right trail. Looked like no one had been up here for 2 weeks (last signature in canister register) based on all the spider webs encountered crisscrossing the entire trail.

Views from the ledge off the summit were great, well worth the small effort to get there.
