Comments
Comments: We headed into the woods on a trail that continued from the end of the road. It was heading away from our destination but did get us into nice woods. We took a heading towards the peak and were soon heading slightly up then down through fairly open woods with some ferns. There were some blowdowns as mentioned by Liam but easily gotten around. Once we hit a low point, we started heading up more steadily, using moose paths and drainages. As we approached the summit, the slope moderated and the woods opened up even more with several herd paths, one of which lead us to the canister. Heading back down we came upon the trail mentioned by Fran, but it seemed to be heading down the other side of the mountain so we didn’t follow it for long. Heading down was an interesting adventure. Those delightful ferns were a hindrance when heading down any steep sections and the ground was slippery from the rains the day before. Not being able to see holes, assorted rocks, sticks and hidden blowdowns made for an interesting descent. Took us a lot longer (not saying HOW long) to get down but we finally popped out onto the road about 50 yards from the car!
