Was looking forward to a quick out-and-back with a short bushwhack. Took the Bolles Trail up 2 miles then went in to the woods. It was all fun and games till we hit the final north-south ridge, then it wasn't fun and games anymore. We bashed our way through the tight spruce and blowdowns, while I fondly reminisced of Scar Ridge, right up to the high point, enjoyed lunch and the ledges, then stayed off that ridge for the descent, first on the west side, then switching over to the east side. The woods weren't marvelous here, but they were much easier than the ridge. We regained our original ascent route going SE-E back to the trail. Fun navigating with Trekboots. |
