 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
New lot off Belknap Mountain Road (just north of Hoyt Road junction) has been partially washed out. The steamrolled crushed rock couldn't hold up to the steep grade without drainage. I was able to get in very slowly with high clearance, but I don't think a car could make it. No nearby overflow parking. |

Did the loop of the new trails on the west side of the mountain in a counterclockwise fashion. Trails still do not have any signs or names, but now have plastic blazes throughout. Blue is the southern and more direct approach, going alongside the quarry/mine. Including a portion of the Ridge Trail, I measured it at 1.25 miles to the summit. The yellow trail is a bit longer and comes into the Ridge Trail near a ski trail viewpoint. Noted that trail mowing is in progress at the ski area.
Nice mostly sunny afternoon with temperatures in the mid-70s, a nice breeze, and much less humidity. Good views from the expansive vista below the blue-yellow split. |
