Light frost to start....won’t be long. 1st time on Boundary easy to follow. Easy to lower Cap then climb to several false summits. Stunning weather & views on Jefferson, only 4 here. Dry to Clay, solo here. No wind on either peak! Looks like I crossed paths with Bikecamphikegirl. She warned of early ice on Ammo. Saw 1 Nobo before heading up. Climb to Washington not overly difficult great views into Great Gulf! Wow! Trains, cars, people & helicopters! Looks like they were cleaning up the LOC hut. Only 10 at sign so had pic taken, that was a surprise. Went inside a huge mistake! Found a somewhat quiet spot near Crawford to eat then down to hut. Dropped pack, flew up Monroe. Solo here views were amazing! Ammo was wet steep & muddy. Cascades were really flowing, so nice. Made it out before headlamp was needed. What a day to be above tree line! An amazing day! Only saw maybe 30 “hikers” had long stretches of solitude. Great hike! |
