Parked at Flume Visitor Center and walked south on Route 3 about a mile to Indian Head Trail so the hike would be a loop rather than an out and back. There is a wide shoulder to walk along. This would also be an easy bike shuttle; all downhill! Indian Head trail had a number of muddy spots and is quite rough in places. Mt. Pemigewasset Trail is in terrific condition and appears to be one of the best constructed trails I have hiked in NH. Views from the ledges were beautiful; foliage is nearing peak. |
