| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
In the morning, a Forest Service pickup truck had an attachment (looked like a 50's metal hay rake one would attach to a tractor) on the rear fender and was actually raking the leaves up (there were a lot of them!) on Sawyer River Road. Pretty cool. |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
After the last 2 days of rain, I took the old section of the Signal Ridge Trail, and could easily rock hop with a couple submerged rocks. I spoke to other hikers who stayed on the current trail, they said they took their boots and socks off at the water crossing. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
One very large uprooted tree across the trail 0.8 mile from trailhead on Signal Ridge Trail. |

| Comments: |
I started the bushwhack to SRPLP a little over a mile from the beginning of SR, going at a SW direction through very nice woods and a flurry of yellow leaves. Signed in at the summit, then descended at a NW direction towards FR85, again through nice open woods. I hit FR85 just where the single lane herd path disappeared into rampant overgrowth and had flooded to the south, fortunately I was going north. Wet rocks, leaves, and roots on sections of Signal Ridge Trail up to the summit of Carrigain, where the gray jays were adorable but gluttonous. Beautiful fall day. |
