Hats and gloves on this cool but very comfortable day. Base and mid layer were enough. Clear, crisp views of the prezzies with zero haze for the first time in a while. A mixed bag for trail conditions - dry, wet, flowing water, mud puddles (some under leaves), frosty and slimy bog bridges but much better than I expected after the heavy rains. The feet stayed amazingly dry for the whole trek. Only four hikers and two dogs on the stretch from South to Carter Dome and solitude for the rest of the hike. It was nice chatting with a Burlington VT hiker and her dog bagging 48's over the past few days (although the dog wasn't that chatty - she was tired). |
