Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Rt 113 / Evans Notch Road is closed between the north gate and Wild River Road (not indicated in the WMNF Road Status). It looks like work on a bridge. Parked in the spaces at the gate, room for about a dozen cars. Walked to the trail head. If you approach from the south on Rt 113, there are no issues getting to the trail head via car.

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All rock hops, however, rocks are quite mossy and potentially slippery

Comments
Comments: Following my efforts this weekend to hike a couple of the delisted 52WAV, we took the drive to Maine to bag West Royce. After a lengthy road walk to the trailhead (see above), we got started. This is a great trail for solitude, since we spotted only one other person with his baby in a pack.

Now that most leaves are down on the trail, it is a little difficult to follow. Wet trail under the leaves required more caution to avoid slipping, including a short section that seemed to be following a small stream. The section of Royce trail to the summit was particularly enjoyable (fewer leaves, mossy surroundings, beautiful). The ledges offered glimpses of Evans notch, and beyond, very nice and private.
