Enjoyed this hike with its "comfortable" grades and variety of trail conditions from flat wide sections to stretches of rock and ledges. Stopped briefly along the way to inspect and marvel at the cribbing. Higher up we encountered an ice waterfall with ice crossing the trail. This had one treacherous spot to get around and over. During the last .7 miles to the junction, the trail was flat with occasional ice that could be stepped around. Junction was well marked. Beginning of trail over the summit was not marked but had an obvious entrance. The summit had sustained winds of 25-30 mph. The low sun angle along with all kinds of cloud types and varying sunlight made for some great photos. |
