Comments
Comments: This hike was not about difficulty/challenge but more about getting some longer miles in without beating my body up. :D Pisgah State Park is ideal for this as the trails/roads here are gentle and easy. I was shooting for somewhere around 10 mi. total but the loop I fashioned today, along with some extra wandering about, ended up at 11.8 mi.

All of these trails were mainly dry despite the recent rains. The wettest stretch was along Town Forest Trail, where there is mud and standing water is low-lying spots. Otherwise, the wind was drying things out nicely.

It's a treat to visit all these backcountry ponds. Along Pisgah Ridge there are several ledge outlooks with good views and the summit of Mt. Pisgah is ledgy with an excellent view to the east. At the height-of-land on Davis Hill Trail I did the short easy bushwhack to the true summit of Davis Hill, which is also the Chesterfield high point.

Pretty quiet out there today and the chilly temps were perfect for hiking.
