 | Comments: |
We hit all of the shoulder season conditions on this hike. We were able to go without spikes, in the crusty trace snow, for about 3 miles. We put them on two tenths of a mile from the summit of Paugus when we encountered icy covered slabs on the Lawrence Trail. We kept the spikes on for the descent down Old Paugus. As I expected, there were some tricky slabs but they were doable on the edges. Snow up top was a fluffy three inches. Really nice day in the woods, reminding ourselves how to re-layer and organize for winter. |
