Once you step off of the Cold Spring Road onto the trail it is snow/ice all the way to the summit. About 75% coverage until the Oak Ridge Cutoff, then about 90% and finally 100% at the High Ridge Trail. Mostly ice and minimal snow at the start then gradually increasing to about 4 inches of snow near the summit. Breakable crust snow most of the way. The ATV erecting the snowmobile barriers and signage made tracks for about the last mile of the High Ridge Trail. I passed them on my descent. I put microspikes on at the bottom of the Oak Ridge Cutoff on the way up and kept them on until I got back to the Cold Spring Road. |
