A MAGNIFICENT day in and above the forest was had. It's been a week and this was just what I needed. We got lucky and had the only cloud over us in the entire WMNF. Eeyore hike for sure. Great trail conditions start to finish, fast, but not lightning yet. We need more snow. We opted for the abandoned version of Gorge Brook Trail, which I feel is far more scenic - and its less peopley so a win win. The stoic krumoltz sentinels around East Peak have donned their heavy winter coats and look straight out of a Dr. Suess book. Commanding views of the inside of a cloud during our summit visit. Low winds let us linger and eat turkey on the summit. We enjoyed a more 'proper' meal lower while protected. My favorite dish was the mashed potatoes - which consisted of mashed up pringles! Ha ha! It's a potato still! Saw several familiar faces out today. Only views to be had all day where a fleeting glimpse of an undercast Franconia Ridge on our ascent. Definitely a walk on the moon today. Reminded me of how much I love winter and why I moved here.
Moose - hope to see you again soon in about, six weeks. We've got a big date. |
