| Water Crossing Notes: |
Charles Brook was fairly high. A short distance uphill from the trail I found a spot that required a 5 foot jump, but it appeared to be the best spot to get across with dry feet. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Multiple step over blowdowns on Meader Ridge, but one spruce would benefit from a saw due to the branches blocking the trail. I tried to break off the branches as possible, but still needs work. Several step over blowdowns on Baldface Circle, too. Bog bridges on Mt. Meader Trail are in tough shape. |

| Comments: |
Going up Mt. Meader went well with soft snow appearing around 2200 feet alternating with bare ground. No traction needed. Meader Ridge was covered with an inch or two of snow with breakable crust, but again I didn’t feel traction was needed. Baldface Circle was another story entirely. Extensive, but thin, coating of ice on the steep initial descent ledges. The two “tricky scrambles” were particularly challenging even with microspikes (not enough ice yet for crampons, though). Snow persisted much lower, to about 1800 feet, and the trail was very wet and covered with leaves below that down to the river crossing. Views from Meader, along the ridge and from Eagle Crag were great, but I’d suggest avoiding Baldface Circle Trail until more wintry conditions arrive. |
