Comments
Comments: A very nice day in the woods. Snow an ice started appearing at around 1k'. Snow was never more than a couple of inches, where there was snow. It was all crusty. A lot of water on the trail at elevation. Put on rock spikes on Eastman summit for descent. As expected, northern aspects have more snow/ice. There's still plenty of exposed rock and the rock spikes took a real beating. Broke one of the chains. Took off spikes around 2200', where it was mostly bare rock, but slipped a couple of times on some icy sections. Most of it was easily broken up with trekking pole. There was a section near the beginning of Eagle Cascade where I whack'd around some steep scambley ice covered rocks (sorry moss). Didn't see another soul all day, except my hiking partner. Views of snow covered Washington were outstanding. There's wasn't any more snow on the trees though :(. The cascades on Eagle Cascade Trail are worth the extra hike. Very lovely indeed!

someday I'll decide on a name. trailslippah's been calling me "uncle bob" after the terminator, so I'll go with that for now.
