This hike had the full gambit, bottom was mostly mud, as we got higher there was a lot of ice, but the first mile or so didn't necessarily need traction. Higher elevations were very very icy, some sections were really tricky. To get to summit there were several sections where an ice axe and crampons would have been very welcome - but we were able to do it with microspikes and poles. Summit was very windy and cold, but had a good view. Steep, icy downhill off of summit in direction of Webster - my friend was not comfortable doing it with our equipment so we turned back. Saw a few decent sized groups, and 1 solo runner. Not accessible with skis. |
