 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Levels were moderate today and we had to go upstream a bit to cross a spot where Zealand pond was overflowing. Also had to bust out our best horizontal leap to get over the crossing above the hut. Crossings heading down Bondcliff also required care (and spikes if you’re skittish like me) but were do-able |

 | Comments: |
Lots of evidence of the rain/thaw earlier this week. Spikes on at 3500’, about 1/2 mile before the ridge on Twinway. Mostly rock and ice in till about 1/2 mile before Zealand. Decent packed snow (not a lot but enough to make the walking easier) from there until Bond except above treeline near Guyot. Those were the best miles of the day. Spikes stayed on until 1/2 mile after Bond, bare booted across the rest of the ridge to Bondcliff. Spikes back on for descent until we hit 3400’ (about a mile down). Very happy to have left the new spikes at home and brought the old ones. Hopefully we get more snow soon! Britty cent’s tibial plateau fracture healing about as smoothly as the glare ice. |
