The Hi-Cannon trail had a few places where the ice had melted and refrozen that were difficult and dangerous to work around heading uphill: three and two halves for a total of four. Only one of them turned out to not be as bad as it looked. The key issue with Cannon, in either direction, is getting back down. Kinsman Ridge is covered in slippery, dangerous ice with rocks sticking up out of it. I eventually sat on the trail and slowly slid and lifted from one exposed root or rock to another. It was very VERY slow going to do safely. I recommend waiting until this mountain has a good few feet of snow on it. Then it might actually be fun! |
