Bare booted the lower 1/2 mile. The trail became very icy after that, so I broke out a new pair of Unigear spikes (comparable to Hillsounds). There were some very thick ice flows in several places that required careful stepping. The trees on the sides of the trail became very useful. The upper 1/3 of the trail was icy but much better, so less aggressive traction could have been used. |
