|

Dry Trail, Ice - Black, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Ice - Breakable Crust |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Multiple water crossings all rock hopable and easy to cross, Small sections with flowing water were easily avoided |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Signage and orange blazing on these trails is impeccably maintained by the RMC. Wonderful trails, easy to follow, couple blowdowns were easy step overs, although one larger spruce on the ridge (CRT) was more difficult that others due to the larger branches |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Coop and Piper had fun on the trails today. Generally easy trails for pups. Most challenging for them were the ice flows descending Mt Crescent, but both bounded down w/o issue. Water crossings were mostly open for drinking, but not sure how much longer this will be the case. |

Had trails to our selves today, only spotted one other person in lot after his quick short hike.
This was a wonderful loop with multiple spots for taking in the views. Even thought the major peaks were in the clouds, it was fun to spot so many other peaks from different vantage points.
Much of the trail was dry with a dusting at higher elevations. Ice was visible under the dusting of snow along he ridge; and increasingly on the approach and descent of the Mt Crescent summit. Despite the ice flows, trails were easy to navigate without additional traction. 3 weeks ago I encountered half foot of snow on these trails; amazed at change back to dry ground.
To reach NR, we bushwhacked up some of the glades since they were relatively clear, then headed east to higher ground and search for the canister (actually a jar). This direction provided a more gradual ascent through open woods. Spotted register tied to tree on a rock nubble and enjoyed browsing at the familiar names going back to the mid 2000s.
