 | Comments: |
Having hiked this mountain and trail in the other seasons this was by far the most challenging. We wore crampons the entire time taking them off only to have lunch in the ski restaurant. Didn’t want to fiddle with putting them on and taking them off on this steep trail. Did not encounter significant water ice until .7 miles from the trailhead. Several long sloped ice flows made crampons a necessity, but it was difficult wearing them in places with just rock and 1” of snow. Did not bring microspikes to reduce pack weight but they would have been useful in a few stretches. Can provide more details of the pros and cons of the crampons were wore if contacted. |
