Comments
Comments: When we arrived at the junction, both directions had been broken. We opted to go counter clockwise. We later found out that someone broke snow to the summit that way. Thank you bikecamphikegirl. We continued on and broke trail for the remainder of the loop. Everyone that went that way seemed to go straight back down. The loop has been broken down by 10 hikers in snowshoes (someone not part of our group ended up joining us).
We convinced a mom and her teenager that were ill prepared and cold to turn around about 1.5-2 miles in.

A note to Bikecamphikegirl if you read this - our group was prepared to break trail the whole way and would have gladly helped with breaking out the trail. We opted for a 10am start because of the long drive to get there. We all had snowshoes and weren't expecting to see so many people on Sunday. It was a 50/50 that we ended up going the same way that you did. I do think we pulled our weight by breaking out the rest of the loop with 7 beginner hikers, most of whom had never worn snowshoes before. Unless you're at the front, we don't know whether one person or a group of people alternate breaking trail. Believe me, the 7 new hikers are aware of the effort needed to break trail after our hike on Sunday.
