Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: little trickles. Because this was my 1st hike of the season in snowshoes I managed to fall off the small bridge at the beginning of Carlton Notch...and then again I put my shoe in some water and was rewarded with freezing clumpy snow stuck to the cleats for a bit.
Trail Maintenance Notes

Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: well until these trails get packed out, which due to the remoteness I wonder if they ever do...I would consider leaving Fido at home, unless they love bounding thru 2 feet of snow

Comments
Comments: The first part of Carlton Notch is broke by skiers, but still very soft. Castleview Loop is broken. My friend led the way for pretty much all of it, which I am thankful for cuz I might've had to spend the night. There is A LOT of snow up there. Where the ski path leaves Carlton Notch, we broke out to the ridge. Nothing broken out up on top, coming or going and I was gassed so we turned around. With plenty of daylight left, we headed to the village and broke out bits & pieces as we cleaned up some redlining chads around Mossy Glen.
