This one seemed to be relatively insulated from the effects of Friday’s storm! Only human on the trail today.
About a foot of Thursday night snow before the rain & freeze, couple inches of Friday night powder on top of that. Went about 100 feet before throwing the snowshoes on, was sinking through crust at every step. Yuck. Snowshoes floated right on top, making for mostly “easy” trail conditions! Some weird ankle-twisting stretches between the (discontinued) Cabot trail and the cabin, where the trench is temporarily more narrow and frozen underneath - just keep that in mind if we get more snow.
As noted above, water crossing was easy. |
