Comments
Comments: WE started up On Cross Rivendell. The trail had a solid snow pack, but riddled with postholes. Mostly avoidable. Some loose granular at the high elevation. Some exposed rocks and ice, nothing significant. The trail to North Peak was broken out, but not firm. We decided to head down Kodak. Put on snowshoes. One one postholer had descended previously. Couldn't have been much fun. It was slow going, punching through a 2 in crust to powder underneath. Hubby stayed in front, while I tried to chop up the broken pieces of snow. Our snowshow tracks opened up a path but certainly did not pack it down. The two water crossings were manageable with snowshoes with careful placement. After the second crossing, the trail marking and trail direction became a bit difficult. Had to refer to gps numerous times to discern the trail. At one point we headed for the top of some ledges, then realized the trail was below the ledges. We took to bushwacking to cross the ledges and head down into the valley. We eventually met up with the trail on Eastman Ledge. Finally arrived at the TH on Quintown Road. Walked the road back. Be sure to head straight for the house and dont follow the curve of the road that goes to the left. Not sure where that goes. Once you reach the house, the road id plowed. At the junction of Quintown Road and Mousley Road we took the logging Road on the right that turns into Baker Road, arriving back at the car. Total mileage 9 miles, total time 6 hrs 45 mins.
