All kinds of conditions out there today. Bare boots then spikes were sufficient all the way up 19 Mile > Carter Dome > Zeta Pass > South Carter > Zeta > Carter Dome Trail (I skipped Hight). Still running water/exposed rocks in places, but avoidable. Switched to crampons for the descent into the notch, but many post holes from snowshoes and boots made the going rough. It was packed down better going up to A, switched to shoes to do Wildcat Ridge. Pretty sturdy base there. Ski trails were busy but was lucky to bump into another group of hikers headed down who gave me a ride back to 19 Mile. Yay! |
