We warmed up with a quick trip out and back on the the Bearcamp River Trail to Beede Falls & Sandwich Notch Rd. That was the last trail i needed to close out the Waterville/Squam tab. 67%. Spikes the whole way. Then we took Wentworth trail to the summit of Israel. So glad we got an early start because the trail was at its firmest in the morning. Messy spring conditions. Spikes roundtrip, but on the descent the conditions were so wet and slippery it didn't matter. Slush just gummed up the spikes. Only one determined soul in snowshoes, bless their heart, because it was pretty bony for most of the hike with the deepest snow is in the last .25 to the summit. It was still a great day to be out, just slow going with careful foot placement. Do your snow dances people, the trails need it! |
