Comments
Comments: Woof. What. A. Mess. Mud and slush and slush and mud. Waterproof boots and Gore-Tex gaiters were just as important as spikes, if not more so. If your boots aren’t waterproof, pack some Hannaford bags, because your feet are going to get wet. Lots of breakable crust, and I postholed through into ankle-deep water several times. Spikes are necessary but you’re either going to play spikes on/spikes off or have to sharpen them when you get home. Between the road walk and the slush slog, add some extra time for this one. Despite conditions, views were on point.
