 | Comments: |
Crawford Notch still has a decent base of snow. It starts right at the trail head with only a few short sections of mud on the connector. Carried snowshoes but it was spikes door to door today as the trail froze up overnight. We were expecting a mess of frozen postholes but it's not horrible. Crawford Path to Peirce is all pretty choppy. There are some deeper postholes higher up and more so in sections between Peirce and Eisenhower. Some short sections of hard ice on Ike Loop that sharp Hillsounds handled fine.
These conditions will likely change over the next few days as temps rise above freezing again with incoming precipitation.
Nice weather this morning. A little windy on Ike and low visibility but at least it felt more like winter. Lots of people out today including four local legends on the Whites. |
