Beautiful day to be out!
This is definitely a challenging route up the Osces. Snow right from the start, however it was a tad boney in spots along Greeley Ponds. Micros did fine. Crossing was an easy enough rock hop just downstream from the trail.
Switched to K10s at the junction for extra grip on the steeps. Less boney on Mt Osceola trail, however there were still some rocks just barely underneath the snow pack. Crampons didn't stick well when you'd find one of those spots.
Plenty of ice beneath the snow as well, so I was thankful for the extra bite from the K10s, especially on the descent. (plenty of folks were heading up in just micros and they were doing fine). Tough trail, but take it slow and careful and it's no problem.
Chimney was a non issue- the bypass of the bypass is a breeze up and down. Views were absolutely gorgeous. Low wind and visibility forever |
