Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Most were easily managed. The one big one not far from the trailhead was too high to cross in the usual spot with no snow bridge. We went upstream to where others had found a reasonably good crossing. On the way back ice on the rocks was becoming slushy but not slippery.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: As noted last week, a big evergreen lying in the trail not too far from trailhead. Some people went through it, others went around.

Comments
Comments: We used microspikes up to the junction for Mount Osceola Trail. Put snowshoes on as there was a rough snowshoe track. Could have stayed with spikes but we all agreed snowshoes was the right choice. Monorail on one bog bridge over a small stream was a bit challenging with snowshoes but no one fell off! There were several water crossings and muddy spots where spikes would have gotten wet and possibly iced up. Between the two ponds there is a deeply eroded runoff stream, about 3 feet deep in spots, paralleling the trail. It eventually turned downhill, spread out and intersected the trail. Lots of semi-frozen mud there requiring some fancy footwork. We turned around partway past the morth end of Lower Greeley Pond because the trail was just a messy mix of mud and snow as far as we could see. Spikes back on at the junction though I'm sure barebooting would have been fine except maybe on the bigger stream crossing. So happy to see that bluebird sky!
