Lost and Found: Lost the broken bottom of a Black Diamond pole which probably broke off as I chucked my poles down from the ladders on Mt. Morgan (I needed both hands!!). This is about the tenth BD pole I have broken. Waaah

Comments
Comments: Squam Range traverse with Cruddytoes. Since we couldn’t drive all the way up to Crawford-Ridgepole Trailhead on Sandwich Notch Road, we started at Mead Base so as to do the remaining 0.6 miles left of Bearcamp River Trail. (Used to be a nice 17 miler that I ran long ago…) Did the Lower Falls Loop as well.

We hoofed it up Sandwich Notch Road to the start of Crawford-Ridgepole Trail and headed UP! The difficult scramble about 1/2 mile up was tricky but fun and not too icy. The miles to Mt. Morgan are slow - up down up down up down… - but easier once we got through the cave and down the ladders on Morgan. Those were not easy and required a bit of finesse to get onto since some of the rungs are missing. O_O

From that point on it was pretty smooth sailing; the tread was much easier and not as ledgy. Views of Squam Lake, etc., were marvelous from many vantage points along the ridge. We did the entire hike in bareboots. There were some icy patches, but they were easily avoided. Snow depth is minimal. We saw absolutely no one else the whole day!
